Short answer: Wash, Beam or Spot
Wash gives a soft wash of colour and lights people and the stage, e.g. FOS IQ Aurora Wash. Beam gives a narrow, sharp beam visible in smoke, e.g. FOS Iridium 75w Beam. Spot projects an image and gobos, e.g. FOS Iridium 75w Spot. One hybrid head, e.g. FOS 12R Hybrid PRO, does all three in a single fixture, but costs noticeably more.

How to choose heads for an event
- Small halls and clubs: 4–8 Wash heads plus a few Beams are enough for a full show and a nice effect in smoke.
- Theatres and conferences: Spot with gobos for accents and Wash for faces; quiet operation and a smooth dimmer matter.
- Touring and rental: hybrid models save space in cases, and you will find transport cases in the catalogue.
To control the heads you need a DMX console, see DMX control, and smoke brings out the beams, see effects.
